A grimy B.R. 9F 2-10-0 heads west around the Shipley curve and then onwards towards Skipton and Hellifield and onto the S&C proper at Settle Junction for the 22 mile climb over the 'long drag' to Ais Gill summit with a mixed goods for Carlisle Kingmoor circa 1966/67.

A ex-LMS 4-6-0 Jubilee heading a Down express west around the Shipley curve towards Skipton and Hellifield and then onto 'the long drag' at Settle Junction and the Carlisle road.
In there earlier LMS days they were rated 5XP and were known by some as Red Staniers or Red 5s to distinguish them from the Stanier Black 5s although later on they were more commonly known by railwaymen and enthusiasts as Jubilees. In BR days they were rated 6P.

When going around Holbeck dept ... there was a good collection in the round house.. and out side .....
I believe a good few of the Jubilee,s , had brought the Waverly down , and belonged to Carlisle or Carnforth .. and other express trains ..

With a mention of sheds .. here is a view of Manningham loco shed .....Bradford
Re: Another "cop" James B
Manningham shed was 20E between 1950-1957 and then became 55F between 1957-1967 and was a sub-shed of Iikley.
A nice picture Jimmy, on the far left a ex-LMS Ivatt 4MT 2-6-0 'Flying Pig' and just seen to it's right is a ex-LMS Fairburn 2-6-4 tank and in the foreground on the table another ex-LMS Fairburn 2-6-4 tank with another two Fairburn tanks in the background to the right and on the extreme right the front end of a Stanier 8F 2-8-0.
I like ex-LMS & BR standard locos, I like steam sheds and I like the smell of coal smoke...

Hi Mickey , I always thought the Ilkley shed was part of Skipton .. as in its day ,ran through to that town ..before being chopped off ..
Ben Rhydding Station in the 1950s..so both engines would be from Manningham shed .. I believe there was only about 6 locos there at Ilkley ..

Re: Another "cop" James B
The above two pictures feature two Stanier 3P 2-6-2Ts that were from a total number of 139 that were built. The bottom loco no.40178 it's first shed was at Nottingham 16A and it's last shed was at Bolton 26A and was withdrawn from traffic in October 1961 and cut up in March 1962.
You like your LMS locos Jimmy so do I, I also like all the B.R. Standards, WD 2-8-0s, ex-GWR 4-6-0 Halls & Granges, Maunsell N & U mixed traffic 2-6-0s & the Bulleid West Country & Battle of Britain classes in original or rebuilt forms.

Re: Another "cop" James B
Kings Cross with A4 Quicksilver making a stately departure with a Down express from the old no.8 platform and passing the 1933 signal box behind it which would close in late 1971 when the new Kings Cross power box would open over in the area of York Road station.
