Hi,

Does any one have any informarion on Frederick Hardy 1882 to 1949. He was my Grandfather.

He started with the NER as a clerk at Scarborough station 1901 and went on to be Superintendent in control with the LNER of the section between York amd Berwick. He had offices in York Sunderland and Newcastle upon Tyne. that I know about.
Family stories tell of him meeting the King and Queen from the Royal Train at Newcastle and being responsible for ensuring its saftey until it was needed again.

Apologies - I missed your post until now.

Some of the NER books might have some information. The other places to try would be the National Archives at Kew, and the National Railway Museum.
The NRM's archives are currently being re-located so you might have to wait untl next year before they're available.
