L1s scrapping

Post by enterprise »

Could anyone tell me where the L1s were scrapped? I've been through all the scrapyard sites but no mention of the L1. My regular engine was 67762 and I'd love to know where she ended up. By the way my depot was 34E (neasden)

According to Yeadon's Register of LNER Locomotives Vol 16, 67762 entered traffic on 14/1/1949 and over its very short life was allocated to Copley Hill, Bradford, Stratford, Neasdon (2/10/49 to 1/11/58), Gorton and Colwick where it was withdrawn 30/10/61 and sent to Darlington Works for scrapping 9/11/61.

Paul

Thankyou Paul for that information on 67762. I must say I had never heard of "Yeadons" but having looked it up I will try for a copy.

Enterprise, I have just been in conversation (9/12/12) with the host of Rail-Online website regarding your old engine 67762.
He has kindly put up a photo of the loco at Darlington Works wearing a 34E
Neasden shed plate. See;- http://railonline.zenfolio.com/p2653225 ... #h4ebda67a
