I was wondering if any one could give me some info on the men who derailed the Flying scotsman in Cramlington 1926. My great- grandfather, George Stephenson, was one of the miners who was involved in the act. :o I would love to try and find a bit more about him.
It has always been kept very hush-hush in my family and no one wants to comment on it!

Thank you!

Have you read the recently (2006) published"Let No Wheels Turn" by Margaret Hutcherson? Its about the men involved essentially.I don't think theres a George Stephenson mentioned but a Bill Stephenson, one of those charged IIRC,features in it.
There is a website listed www.letnowheelsturn.com ,its published by TUPS Books,(0191 4190446),ISBN1 901237 34 6
Good luck with you search!

Yes, I've got it on order at my local library!
Bill was my g-grandad- his name was George William, Bill for short!
I'm now trying to trace my family tree, It's really difficult when the family wont disclose anything!!
It's all so exciting though!

Thank you for your post! :D
