Hello folks.I'm a newbie to the site, so please go gently! If my question seems absurd, that's just me!
Could someone be kind enough to tell me the approximate geographical boundaries of the Southern Scottish Area of the L.N.E.R?
Many thanks.

Or, to put it another way, about the same as the old North British Railway.
The Northern Scottish Area was that covered by the former Great North Of Scotland Railway, and the gap still existed between the former NBR and GNoSR lines, with running powers over what was now an LMS line (former Caledonian) between Montrose and Aberdeen.

Did the ex NBR branches in Northumberland and Cumberland remain part of the Southern Scottish area?
