NYMR and NRM Jubilee week events
Has anybody visited Railfest or the NYMR special Jubilee week yet (with regular through running to Whitby I gather, due to the bridge work in the Esk Valley)? I presume the weather today was a bit nicer in Grosmont than in York, if the dividing line shown on BBC weather forecasts was correct. Any definite good points or bad to mention regarding either event? Anything good on sale in the "Marketplace" section of Railfest, or just the usual NRM shop stuff plus mass produced commemorative novelties to persuade the parents and less knowledgeable visitors to spend money on items that will never acquire any value?

Well the NYMR event will not have it's star attraction, that's because 60007's at railfest.

Market place is full of Model stands all selling the same stuff as usual at any other event.
Some various artists selling paintings and some book and DVD stands.
There are more stalls in the Rail Arena marquee run by the many varied societies all meriting more support than the commercial traders. (in my opinion)

I completely agree with this statement. and there's a Gauge 1 Society layout (With live steam) in that marquee too. I can't remember exactly what stands there are in that area though, A1 Trust, A4 Loco Society, the Furness Railway and the Bahamas groups spring to mind, as well as a great number of railways, NYMR, KWVR and Ffestiniog for example.Bryan wrote:There are more stalls in the Rail Arena marquee run by the many varied societies all meriting more support than the commercial traders.
