LNER T-shirt

Okay, so it's won't be everybody's "cup of tea", and there may be good reasons why nobody in his right mind would advertise to the world the fact that he is what is seen as a railway nerd, or "anorak", BUT.....prompted by a magazine advert I had a look at:

http://shop.traintees.co.uk/

I was somewhat disappointed to find that despite what seems like stacks of options for BR and GWR rubbish, they appear to offer little in the way of true LNER designs. One or two outline loco drawings, maybe a train headboard, or the (in my view hideous) 1940s cigar shaped LNER totem on a so called garter blue T-Shirt. Yuck! Not (as far as I can see) a hint of "classic LNER" gold/red/black lettering with white highlights, or famous LNER loco names on the proper style of plate, nor any Doncaster / Darlington / Apple green backgrounds on offer.
Has anybody any thoughts about commissioning something more unmistakeably "LNER in its heyday".

Fell free to ignore this latest moan of mine.

I prefer my T-shirts plain or with a very subtle logo, but for those more flamboyant than me, (remember I'm a boring accountant), I would have thought a range of LNER T-shirts utilising the famous poster designs would be highly appropriate.

Hi Earl,

Your post beat me too it. I‘m looking at a classic LNER poster and it has a small lad looking up to a big set of driving wheels with the words, “Take me by the Flying Scotsman”. Its classic art of the era but what is curious to me and I don’t understand is the bottom comment, “With apologies to the Southern Railways” :?:

I recon a small LNER logo on the front and one of these posters printed on the back may be stylish new vogue Nerd? Perhaps I’ll stick to my day job..my wife has just read what I said and immediately rolled her eyes!

I’d only wear it under my enormously manly flannel lumber jack shirt when sneaking around our club rooms. I’d make sure I fully button up when I drop in at the pub afterwards. Yes, model railways has forced me to take to the bottle!

Regards

Steve

Ay up!

Recently Steam Railway traced the kid in the Southern poster and interviewd him. He was also willing to do a 21st Century recreation!
