Wiki depends on public knowledge to correct inaccurate information. Whack in your better info with as much reference back up as possible to authenticate the claim. Since the S&D was operating before the L&M was even incorporated we all know this is another case of Dry Side pioneered...

Well funnily enough the Wiki page on "Heighington Railway Station" mentions that Heighington opened as "Aycliffe Lane" in 1825 so they have their wires crossed. Its annoying to think this misinformation is in a public arena.

I guess the problem is that it is too broad based. I've opened an account there as the first stage of correcting the subject of this thread, and I also mentioned my dismay at the term "Train Station". One of the Editors responded that since Wikipedia was "American English" they thought it was a compromise between the American "Railroad Station" and the English "Railway Station". I responded that since both the English langauge and Railways were invented in the UK we had "first rights". I haven't received a convincing response yet.
