1950s paintwork on buildings in Northumberland

Post by IanLister »

Hi. Can anyone enlighten me as to the colour of paint used on station valances, guttering and downpipes, warehouse doors, window frames etc etc in BR days (1950s to be precise)? The area is North Northumberland/Tweed estuary, if that helps.
From memory, I'm thinking probably white......
Thanks
Ian

Look on this page but scroll a long way down to find the entry and images for the North Eastern Region:
http://www.stationcolours.info/index.php?p=1_4_LNER

Be cautious - the information about the LNER is very definitely wrong in places and suspect in others. At least there are NE Region images (well, actually repaints on the NYMR) to view.
