1920s York to London

I'm doing some research for my website on how journey times have changed over the years.

During the 1920s, how long would a journey from York to London have taken and would it have been possible to do a day return?

since it was possible to get from london to edinburgh in about 8 hours, one could consider that york would be about 4 hours, depending on the train and the time of day, but certain services were set up on the lner to allow for customers
from york, leeds etc to travel to and from london in a day, probably only allowing them about 4 hours in london, but
nonthe less valuable, in particular for cloth merchants at a time when our textile manufacturing was so powerful.

checking nocks book about the pacifics vol 1 doncaster was 180minutes or so from kings cross, so another 60 mins to york is feasible.

I have had a quick look at my July 1922 Bradshaws, not the easiest publication to read.

The quickest up trains that I have spotted were the 2:37pm from York arriving KX at 6:30 pm (3hrs 53 min, stopping at Doncaster) and the 2:53pm arriving KX at 6:45pm (3 hrs 52 min, stopping at Grantham), I suspect the latter to be the Flying Scotsman.

Mostly journey times were about 4 hrs 20 mins but it obviously depended on the number of stops. Down trains had similar timings.
