Middleton on the Wolds Station

Hi All, I'm still new to this subject and I am trying to find out if the station buildings on the Market Wheaton to Driffield line had any official designation or design names or types. I am planning to model Middleton on the Wold station in OO scale but the station building looks to be of a type I have not seen elsewhere, other than at Baintion station on the same line. Having looked at the photos of Middleton on the Wold station on the 'Disused Station' website it appears to be of a type that was two story one end and single story the other, with what appears to be the waiting room area between them. Any information would be appreciated.

When the line was surveyed circa 1920 in connection with the drawing up of the Engineer's Line Diagram, the underbridge to the west of the station comprised wrought-iron girders and troughing resting upon brick abutments.

The North Eastern Railway Association has a copy of the ELD and the station siding diagram (White Print), as well as several photographs of the station and surrounding area (though not of the underbridge).

John.

Hello John

Thank you that's very useful information.

"comprised wrought-iron girders and troughing resting upon brick abutments"

I wonder if anyone has a photo or picture of the type of bridge as described by John above please?

The Engineer's Line Diagram has a simple sketch, with dimensions, of all the bridges along the line. I don't know of any photograph of this particular bridge though. (I see from Google Earth that the bridge has been demolished.)

John.

Hopefully when I get a copy of the ELD White Print it will give me some clues to the type of bridge it was and I'll take it from there.

Cheers, Dave.
