The LNER Encyclopedia

Does anyone have any info/photos/drawings of NER/LNER 10 tons goods yard cranes? I need to model the one that was at Blyth, Northumberland: the only photos I have are poor quality or only show the jib. Many thanks in advance for any advice!

Anything available from the NERA at Darlington?
Will check my copy of standards and see if anything in there.

Nothing in the standards book relating to cranes other than Water Cranes.
There is a little bit in one paragraph, however, in "North Eastern Record" Vol 1 p33 and 34.
Including a drawing of a small capacity yard crane at Monkwearmouth.

If you are local to the North East the crane in the former goods yard at Greenhead was still there in 2003 and I think it still remains. Plus I am pretty sure there is one in Beamish?

There's two at Beamish, one inside and one outside the goods shed. I should be there in a couple of weeks if that's any good? If you go on my blog there's a post from around a week ago showing the Beamish goods shed which should show the interior crane in one image

WOW! The one inside the goods shed is obviously the one from Seaton Delaval!

Pinza, would additional photographs of it be of use? Not sure if the goods shed will be open during the winter season but more than happy to look next week

They'd certainly be of interest! I would imagine someone in the museum would know for sure if it was the Seaton Delaval one? I thought it might be LNER as it didn't look like any NER one I have seen.

Just been looking at my copy of "A history of North Eastern Railway Architecture - The Pioneers" there is a picture of the exterior of Durham Gilesgate with 2 large cranes outside and an interior view with a really good close up shot a smaller crane.
