I've just bought off ebay, the Book LNER Depot Allocations1st January 1923 (The First Day) by Yeadon.
Has anyone elase come accross this book?
It starts off telling you about the LNER and loco classifications, then moves on to the Shed codes used (under Operation Companies (York is under Great Northern, and North Eastern) and it tells you how many in each are, and in each shed.
The book is then in the Operating Companies (The GCR, GER, GNR, GNSR, NBR, NER)
and under each reigion it lists classes in alphabetical order (with how many there were) and under them the numbers and the depot they were at.
There wee only 2 A1's both at Doncaster.
it then goes on to talk about Sheds and Sub Sheds, before finishing off with a list of the sheds (under companies) with the classes and number of them there.
Quite an informative book really with a few early B&W photos in it too.
