Tattershall

Post by notascoobie »

Hi,

I have a long-standing interest in Tattershall station. I have early 19th century 6" to the mile maps, book references, some reminincences and photos taken before and after restoration. I am keen to aquire unpublished photos of the station and general info on the station during its working life.

This is for a modelling project.

Anyone able & willing to help would be most welcome.

Cheers.

I have one photo of the station here - http://www.flickr.com/photos/pinzac55/3590478588/

There was an article in (I think) Railway Magazine a couple of months before which inspired me to walk the line.

It might not do any harm to join eBay and put "Tattershall" in as a saved search including in descriptions. If anything turns up you automatically get a message in your e-mail inbox.

I collect railway photos at Bury St Edmunds and Lavenham and they turn up fairly regularly on eBay, albeit they are larger places than Tattershall.

Thanks to both of you for replying. I'm particularly taken by the ebay saved search idea, I've never considered that before.

The station languished for many years, with only the goods shed being looked after - by an aviation preservation group. I remember seeing a Victor cockpit in there in about 1980. The group moved on to set up the Newark air museum and the station was saved just in time for renovation into an artist's studio.

There is a super photo in Ruddock's "Railways of Lincoln" of a Jenny Lind at Tattershall with a train of 6 wheelers.

I have modelled the signal box and coal office to date.

I'll keep searching!

Best wishes.
