Football specials in the 1950s

Does anyone know how I can go about researching the locos and coaching stock that were used on specific football specials to and from Blyth (e.g., Blyth to Ilkeston, Blyth to Morecambe, Carlisle to Blyth) in the 1950s? I have dates, times, etc. but need info on train formations.

I'd also welcome similar info on circus trains - this may be easier to obtain info on since these were, I guess, fairly standard, albeit mixed, formations?

Any pointers gratefully received!

I think one of the Marsden Rail films of York has a feature on a circus train offloading at the dock by Holgate bridge.

Hello

As a new recruit, I've just come across this thread. I suggest a trawl through on line catalogue of the Ken Hoole Study Centre at Darlington might produce some results. Look at the Ken Hoole Collection Working Timetables for a start.

Uope this helps and happy new year

Many thanks. I've got the actual dates that a few of the specials ran so should be straightforward, although access to the Centre is a bit restricted at the moment. Dunno why I didn't think of that myself, just shows the benefits of this forum!

All the best.
