247 Developments have just released etches for one of these TPO carriages. It's a nice looking vehicle with a clerestory roof. I wondered what we collectively know about them? From a section of a book I've been sent I gather they were largely Midland owned and worked initially from Newcastle to Bristol. Presumably after the Grouping they remained Crimson lake? Most of the pictures I was sent show them in Scotland - how long did they stay on the Newcastle - Bristol service?

There's a good selection of pictures in David Jenkinson's "Midland Carriages", including one on the scrap line, circa 1952. The text states that they were always lettered M&NEJPS - the "scrap" photo shows this, and its look as though they were then painted in unlined maroon. R E Lacey's second volume on Midland Carriages has a fuller description but doesn't give any hint as to their use in post-grouping days.
