Thanks to Bill Bedford and Solaris for that information but now I have to make a shameful confession, I was wrong on the closure date, it was,nt 1951. I am secretary of the Widnes Railway Society and I SHOULD HAVE KNOWN, I have evidence all around me, a photograph of the shed in November 1951 with Holden J67 0-6-0t No 68547 as resident loco, the written testimony of a railwayman who worked at the shed in 1953 and my own eyes. I started as an apprentice at I.C.I. in January 1955, and the shed had gone by then, a branch line was put in from a junction on the loop line across the site of the shed and into the new U.S.A.C. works which opened on the 1st April 1955 and started taking delivery of anhydrate from Long Meg in Cumberland and I was there when Gordon Mills and Harry Ashbourne brought in the first trainload along with renowned railway photographer Eddie Bellass (he rode in the brakevan) and I have his photographs of that day. Why I committed to type 1951, I can only claim 0AP syndrome, sorry everyone
