Hi all,
Newbie in town and I have a question that I'm hoping to get some help with...
In the sitcom 'George and Mildred', there is often an LNER classplate shown hanging on the wall of the set, purely a prop, but I'm just curious as to what it relates to.

It says LNER 269664.
I've googled this but found no helpful results, so i thought I'd ask here..

Here is an image of it in the sitcom... sorry its a bit blurred.

Can anyone help me identify the train or origins of this please?

You could try an e mail to the guy who runs that web site. The wagon will almost certainley have been scrapped long ago.

Hello. 269664 was a Diagram 100 20 ton steel hopper, one of a batch of 940 of these wagons built in 1944. These very numerous wagons were built in batches from 1936 to 1948 and were a common sight well into the BR era. Dapol offer a decent representation in 4mm and there are several kits available in 4mm and 7mm. Hope this helps. John

Does that mean that somewhere in the vaults at the Beeb there is a wagon plate going begging?
Or has it been sold off with TV centre?

Unless of course it was from LWT or similar.
