Two GER enquiries the first is due to a new port being constructed to the seaward side of Great Yarmouth and the roads connecting Yarmouth to the rest of the UK being bad to say the least are there any plans to have a rail link. I know that there used to be rails right along the riverside but these were taken up a few years ago.
My other query concerns Claydon station it was supposed to be reopening has anyone got any further information.

I don't think any trace of Claydon station exists now. There is nothing to be seen from the level crossing. At the next village along, Great Blakenham, a new leisure centre called "The Snoasis", is being built on the site of Great Blakenham Cement works which closed a few years age. There is talk about opening a new station here to cater for the expected influx of visitors. As for Great Yarmouth I seem to remember rails in the street near the Haven Bridge which I think went to Vauxhall station. There are also quite a few photos around shot by Dr Ian C Allen of traffic on this line. I will try and get some more info on this.

I've just had a look at Dr Ian C Allen's publication "East Anglian Branch Line Album". It contains photos of the freight tramway from Yarmouth Vauxhall to the Quay. The line survived until the end of 1975. Judging by the total traffic congestion in the area near the Haven Bridge I cannot imagine the powers that be allowing the track to be relaid. It would be nice to see a class 66 on containers edging it's way throught the streets, but despite the state of the A12 and the A47 it will almost certainly be good old road haulage.
