Hello has anybody out there got any or know of any photographs of the WARFLAT or WARWELL bogie wagons used for the transport of military vehicles during the second world war, I tend to scratch build so drawings would be nice,I have a kit built austerity doing nothing but pull brick wagons and would like to give a more fitting train best wishes mick

ISTR there was a feature about them in Model Rail some time ago. There are a number of indexes on the web - if not when I have an idle moment I'll try to find it. Photos and perhaps a drawing as well, I believe.

Are they in the second volume of the new Tatlow, or is that only Warflats?

Check some of the books on Northumbrian branches, there is usually a few pics of military hardware being transported to Otterburn or guns for testing at various sites using different wagons.

Thanks for the help,the photos are a real goldmine,I do remember the article, and may still have it somwhere ,if I havent been processed by my dear wife,someone said that there was someone producing a brass kit for the war flats any ideas any contrbutions are still welcome especially for the warwells which seem to have been made in smaller numbers.thanks again mick

I believe Graham Baker has a kit for a warflat. http://www.gramodels.co.uk/2mm_wagons.php in 2mm. I think he is working on a 4mm version.

Just found that Genesis Kits do a Warwell in pewter www.genesiskits.co.uk

There is a Warflat in the Locomotion museum at Shildon, currently displayed loaded with a Churchill tank.

Hello ,thanks again to everybody for the continuing idea's and info,a friend and I at my local club, (the trent valley model railway club ;new members always welcome) are going to have a go at two different kits the matador warwell which is in resin and the genesis kit which is in pewter ,Ill post our results when done,I have another poser for you all,tanks of all types seem to have been carried on warflats,what went on warwells???,thanks again mick

There are examples of both a WARFLAT and a WARWELL at Quainton.
