Does anyone have a copy of a plan of York Station showing it before the chop, with all 17 platforms, with them all listed, as I look at the old pictures of the station, and it'll say platform 11 or 5 and I can't relate them to what is there now. I have a map of the network, but doesn't tell you the platforms

I can't find a plan so I have prepared you a rough schematic showing the platforms as they were in the 50s and 60s,

Hello Mark !

I saw your interest about York´s railwaystation ! !

My name is Mats and I live in Stockholm Sweden, one of my hobbys is to search my roots in York, my grandmother came from York and her father Oswald Ernest Wiseman 1870-1923 was economist clerk and rating surveyor at N.E.R head office, HQ..

So I am curious about the Head office and York´s railwaystation ! !
My question is do You know any good books, photos I can buy or good website to find about this ?

My S & T thinking head has just imagined all the terminations and wiring for that little lot. It was way ahead of it's time.

are you the S&T chap that my highers and betters at the GCR deal with?
The diagram shown is one of two copies I have. This is a unretouched print quality scan comp of the resignalling scheme notice. I also have the hand-drawn version my grandfather's brother did whilst working on that job. As you suggest, the scale is scary when one thinks of the installation work.

I have done a bit for the GC in the past. A few chaps for the GC have been to play with my signalboxes some time ago.

When you think of the size of the relays used at York (no 930 series plug-ins around then)the whole thing must of been massive. I think all the pictures i've seen show 0ba terminals, they take up twice as much room as 2ba. I wish i'd seen it.

Does anyone still have the above file as the website it was on is no longer available. Alternatively to pick up the original thread, anyone with any schematics of York in the 1950s would be welcomed.
