Framlingham signalling diagram.

Does anyone have/know the location of a signalling diagram covering Framlingham? Ideally in the early nationalisation era but anything would be helpful. Some members of Ely MRC are researching the station with a view to building it as an extension to the current Wickham Market layout.

Thanks in advance.

Not sure if it is open but the Public Record Office at Kew would probably have something in the MT6 files.

Peter Paye's Oakwood Press book p124... I thought the WM crew had this already?

That's the nineteenth century diagram. There's nothing in there covering the 1930s (?) resignalling after passenger services were reintroduced and any subsequent changes up to the target period of the 1950s.

From photos and other evidence in the book, I suggest there was an Up starting signal, at the end of the platform and during the time in the early 1950s, when passenger services were still running, a down home signal opposite the engine shed. There would also have been a fixed down distant, further out. I cannot tell if there were still working ground signals in the early 1950s, but I think the advanced starter, from 1930 had gone.

A diagram, as you wish for Jonathan, would clear all this up.

Well, let's clear it up then!

Although the plan is undated, I would put it post-war.

There's also this plan for the GER/LNER period available from the GERS in different formats that includes the location of signals:

Well, with ground signals, which does make sense, I was not too far out.
