For many years these ran from Tyne dock but can someone enlighten me as to when these trains ran from Teesside and when that diagram stopped?
Thanks

The last ore train to leave Tyne Dock was on the 24th March 1974. This was essentially to empty the bins and the availability of the hopper wagons was so low that a full rake could not be assembled.

The Redcar-Consett service also started in March 1974 (sorry, don't know the exact date) and must have finished before September 1980 when the works closed.

According to my records the last ore trains from Tyne Dock to Consett were 26 March 1974 when two trains ran at 10:45 and 14:00 to clear the bunkers.

I don't have a date for the start of the service from Redcar but the final iron ore train from Redcar ran on 10 September 1980 at as the 6K60 behind 37053 and 37055 as shown below:

Thanks for all those responses. I guess the route from Redcar was via Stockton? I have a clear recollection of doubleheaded 37's working hard through Hartburn North Junction in '79 but not what they were hauling. I was wondering if any of those trains were bound for Consett?

Hi all
I remember the trains ran around at Washington and went through the Harraton branch to South Pelaw.

Well I never!
I moved from Stockton to Penshaw. I never realised they passed there too!
