I know what you are all getting at. I'm 65 and remember as a young spotter the last-grouping classes on their last legs around Manchester. I may not have fully appreciated the significance of the last of the LNWR, LYR, Midland and Great Central but I wish more classes could have been saved and would have liked to have seen some of the types that went before . My two Grandchildren 3 and 2 loved Santa and Steam on the Churnet Valley. In addition my daughter has taken my Grandson on the Llangollen and and West Somerset . I hope we are able to keep steam alive through to his generation.
