Re the Hull to New Holland Ferry. There was a strange ritual on a Sunday where because of local licensing laws the only way to have a drink in the morning was to travel on the ferry.
In 1965 I visited a mate of mine who was at Hull University and he initiated me into this strange ritual. Get on Ferry have a few drinks, get off ferry, walk down the pier , touch ground in New Holland then turn round, walk back up pier and get back on ferry, drink and on return Hull pubs were now open.
The ferry I was on was full to the gunnels.

Hi there this the wife of the chairman of the L.C.P.S, we tryed so hard to buy the boat, if anyone cares to look on the Hull Daily Mail or the Grimsby telegraph web sites you can type in the search bar Lincoln Castle.
And you will see the whole story,and the lies that have been told there is a lot more to this story than we have found out but as the saying goes "Truth Is Out There" we just have to find it.
We are currently raiseing funds for the "New Lincoln Castle" which will go back on the Humber to do the job it used to do it will take approximatley 3-4 yrs of very hard work but we will make it "God Willing".we have purshed several parts of the old girl and they are stored at several locations [not saying where] as even as she was being demolished [we say murderd]a lot of the parts where being stolen from the site right under the demolition companys eyes [Copes of Grimsby].
The funnel has dissapeared and no ones is saying where it is it is not on any auction sites it was on castoff.net but with several days to go it dissapeared,we would love to have it on the new Lincoln Castle.We where at the monthly meeting of the N.Y.M.R in Hull this month and had a very good reception our thanks go to N.Y.M.R for haveing us there,if anyone wishes to jion the fight to rebuild her then please jion us by getting in touch on lincolncastlepreservationsociety@hotmail.co.uk [all one word lower case] and we shall send a membership form A.S.A.P.
