York Queen Street bridge to be demolished?

Post by PinzaC55 »

York council are currently looking at a proposal to demolish the Queen Street railway bridge which used to give access to the original terminus, which is currently being butchered to become the new council offices http://www.yorkpress.co.uk/news/9908045 ... on/?ref=mr

Ay up!

The destruction of the old station is unforgivable!

The railway bridge? Dunno. The structure has no architectural merit that I can see and no longer serves any useful purpose.

Its true that it has no architectural merit but.....I don't know it is sad to see something go which you are used to. And I am sure the bus station will be ghastly and tasteless. I remember Durham bus station "Before" :D and "After" :x

Ay up, Pinza!

Point taken. Is there such a thing as a handsome bus station? I don't honestly think I've ever seen one!

But where will those poor cyclists go now?
How many years have they been able to bypass the traffic by going under the bridge heading for Holgate rd.
