Pit fall posts

Post by limitofshunt »

I came across these marked on some line diagrams recently. Anyone know what 'Pit Fall Posts' were and how they worked?

As far as I recall you sighted towards them from a given point. If the ground had subsided then the reading against the markings on the post would vary from whatever they were the last time you checked.
