60030 last run to Doncaster
In early 1963 at top shed when i was a fireman and with a driver we were preparing A4 Pacific 60030 Golden Fleece for its last run to Doncaster upon withdrawal from service, a main line crew stepped on the footplate, the driver Sid Hopkins stood and looked around for a short while then told me that in 1938 he was the first fireman on this engine and was now going to be its last Driver. Spooky to say the least.
