I was just browsing an article about Maling pottery when I came across a reference to the L.N.E.R.

Does anyone have any Maling L.N.E.R. pieces ?.

Couldn't get the link to the Maling pottery website to open...

Opened OK for me!
Most of the LNER china pre-war came from Alfred Meakin and was called 'Kesick'. Dining car chine was specially commissioned for the 30's super expresses in some cases from firms like Wedgwood, but I have never come across Maling before.

Re: Maling & the L.N.E.R.
Maling issued a commemorative plate to coincide with the North East Coast Exhibition which ran from May to October 1929 at Newcastle upon Tyne. The rim of the plate depictsfour illustrations - a chemical works, a colliery, a shipyard(shewing the 'Mauritania'?) and a three quarter view of a Raven Pacific - in North Eastern livery. Why not an A1 or an A3 Ido not know.
The plate is 11 inches in diameter and the centrepiece shews the Quayside and the then new Tyne Bridge. The top of the plate bears the Coat of Arms of Newcastle upon Tyne
and there is a picture of the Lord Mayor - Councillor Arthur W Lambert - at the foot.
The plate is blue and white.
I do not think there is any connection with the LNER.

A special LNER version of the stuffed joint of pork once much in favour in Lincolnshire?2512silverfox wrote:Dining car chine
Excuse my mischief-making, but I couldn't resist it when I spotted the strategically placed typing error .
