Can anyone supply a diagram of what lines were in place between Penistone and Barnsley Station Jcn?
I believe a number of lines used to be in the area and various routes were amended, adapted from original alignments to what is now in place.
There appear to be a number of mileage changes in the area that I am trying to discover the reason for.

Bryan google the Sectional Appendix i havent got a proper email address for him but you are correct its a can of worms i seem to remember there was an alteration around Silkstone.
Hi interested in the area served by 52D. also researching colliery wagonways from same area.

I would suggest visiting Newcastle Library.I have being doing a Trainz simulation of railways in Sunderland and they have (like most libraries) a stock of 50 inch to the mile OS maps and the track is highly detailed at that resolution.You can photocopy them after signing that they are for your personal use.

It has just got worse.
I am currently walking 3 renewal sites around the Barnsley area, prior to renewal work.
The old mileposts (Don't worry only concrete posts with painted numbers)have been replaced with new and someone has obviosly started at 1 end of the line with a wheel and placed new posts where they should be every 1/4 mile. Its just that the old posts are, so far as I have found to date, up to 65 yards out of place.
I don't know what this will do for all the records of structures in the area. As these are recorded as mile and chain / yard from year dot.

Trains Illustrated for May 1959 contains an article headed, "The Huddersfield-Penistone line and its branches" which you might find interesting. Unfortunately it does not have a map.

I've scanned part of an operating diagram I have, dated November 1953, and I'm putting it in the Photographs section (which seems to be the right place - no doubt somebody will tell me if I'm wrong)

However my need then has no relevance to present day circumstances.
In other words I took the money and run from track renewals after 19 years around all parts of yorkshire and some beyond.
