Quite similar accidents one with fog and one without. It just gos to show that there are still LNER wartime incidents that are largely unknown, i only found the Burton Agnes one by chance while trying to find some more information on the Musselburgh crash of 1941.
At present i am trying to put a little piece on German air attacks on trains in Northumberland they even had the cheek to shoot up the down Scotsman near Berwick.

The end loading dock is still there as stated about 60yds north of the crossing on the Down side.
I was involved in the relay that went through here 2 years ago.
Down side platform all removed years ago just a spoil heap indicating were it was.
Our renewal dug out the remaining brick foundations.
Up platform however is still intact.
