LNER snowploughs
Good Afternoon, I'm researching the LNER Independant snowploughs . Could anybody supply me with information on these vehicles, series number's, tenders used and where converted. Thank You
Re: LNER snowploughs
You might like to find a copy of David and Claire Williamson's 'Railway Snowploughs in the North East'.
There is an image ...here... with an account of my model of one of the ex-NER Steel Snowploughs.
Most of the NER ploughs were purpose built, and were not conversions of locomotive tenders.

Re: LNER snowploughs
If it is of any interest the LNER (Southern Area) had snow ploughs based at:-
Kings Cross, Grantham, Colwick, Ardsley, Mexborough, Stavely, Sheffield, Gorton (two ploughs), Woodford & Hinton, Lincoln, Immingham, Stratford, March, Norwich Thorpre and Melton Constable.
This info is detailed in their Nov 1947 Sectional Appendix.
