Waskerley moor is amazing, it's so beautiful and so wild did you walk around to Rookhope as well? I'll keep an eye out for your book.

Re: Disused railway lines
Parts of the former coastal route from Whitby to Middlesbrough are walkable. Start from Sandsend station and follow the old formation as far as Sandsend tunnel. The section from here to Kettleness is on a cliff top footpath. Rejoin the old formation at Kettleness to follow a concessionary footpath as far as the road leading to Runswick Bay.
Re: Disused railway lines
The northern coastal route to Whitby also has some walkable parts. From Runswick Bay the route is passable on foot or bike through to Kettleness, and thence onwards to Sandsend (but not the two tunnels). Beyond Sandsend much of the track bed is now under the main road.
