Re: Scamell 3 wheel units.
Much racking of brain, remembered where a photo was, in 'LNER Reflections' based on the collection of The Hulton Picture Company.
Registration AUW 389. The tractor carries the identity HD 0491 on the panel rear of the cab opening, and beneath in script is two lines unintelligible (something like Scorbury / J McLaren would be my guess, could these be the drivers to whom it was allocated?) followed by four lines: Marylebone / Station / London / NW1. Captioned as 1934.

Re: Scamell 3 wheel units.
James McLaren was secretary of the LNER at this time; presumably the application of his name and work address would have been a legal requirement. Certainly most, if not all, contemporary photos of LNER road motors show a similar legend.

Excellent. Now I know that it is 'Secretary', it is so obvious what the word is...Darryl Tooley wrote:James McLaren was secretary of the LNER at this time ...
