Further anti-spam changes: new sign-up question
Posted: Sun Aug 13, 2006 4:14 pm
In the ongoing war against spammers and bogus signups, a new question has been added to the sign-up process. This is a simple trivia question that most legitimate signups will know (currently: Which number is usually associated with Flying Scotsman?). The answer is also on the home page, and there are pointers from the signup process - so all real people should be able to signup properly.
Let me know if there are any problems with it. New signups who are having trouble should use the contact form - see the homepage.
The visual confirmation code is, in theory, now redundant. There is a technical reason why this can't be removed at the moment, but it should be removed today or during the next few days.
During the next couple of hours, I'm going to be adding some more modifications which should make it easier for me to manage members and quickly delete bogus registrations. Let me know if you have any problems.
Richard
