Looks a cracker

Chimney looks totally wrong, just like that on the Hornby B1. Should be a definite plant pot, not parallel sided with what apears to be a distinctly separate cap. Never mind, both 247 and DMR seem to have the correct kind, not that I'll need one.

I'd rather have had an O2 also. Apart from the remark in that thread about conversion into the "mightiness" (or is that just taking the P) one of those would also butcher nicely into a proper O1 - the original kind by HNG.

But I have heard a faint whisper of a hint of a rumour about somebody commissioning an RTR O2......

I am not buying a 01. Have 3 2-8-0's already. An Bach 04, B 7F and H 8F.

Well having studied my copy of Yeadon Vol 24B I cannot see much wrong with the Chimney in the photo?. It certainly is not a Flowerpot shape in all the books pictures. Just a slight curve with a prominent line halfway up the chimney.

Saw the Weathered Hornby BR Early Emblem O1 at Peterborough show today and it looks very,very nice and that nice Mr Koeler from Hornby told me they will be doing more Gresley Suburban Brakes R4522 in BR Crimson next year.

Chimney looks ok to me, compared to photographs.

The only things that stand out too much are the rivets.

Yes there are rivets, but not that pronounced

The main problem for me is that Hornby have used the wrong smokebox door. They have used the most common B1 door type.
Going through Yeadon Register, O1s had the small North Eastern Smokebox door, this can be altered of course, but after Hornby are usually very good on their detail, this is a little bit of a disappointment.

63746 here clearly has a B1 smokebox door, whereas 63773 here has the smaller smokebox door. A case of a minority of the class having the B1 door perhaps? I can't comment on that as I haven't the appropriate Yeadon's to hand, but there's no doubting that the two smokebox doors are different, and having a choice of one or the other would be preferable.

Perhaps this is indicative of a separate smokebox door tooling - the door is a separate item after all. We shall have to wait and see.

It was in a glass case near the archway between the two halls to the right of and just behind the star layout Bradfield Gloucester Square.

The chimneys appear to be different as well .The second picture looks more Flowerpot then the first ? perhaps the angle the pictures were taken?
