Just had a look at the announcement. Good idea for a large express tank engine. Anyone else know if the unlined black is wrong for the LNER variant, or did the lining vary between paintshops assuming they weren't all overhauled by Gorton?

Ironically enough, some time ago when the "regulars" on here were discussing the possibility of commissioning a small run of RTR locos, or maybe a multi-purpose Doncaster 7'3" + 9'0" chassis with different bodies to suit in due course, I think I suggested OO Works, and the response from others seemed to indicate that OO Works was not considered to be the most likely or most promising of suppliers.
I'm not sure I need, or can justify a C13, which seems to me a strange choice with which to enter the LNER market, but I do hope it isn't the last "niche" LNER loco that they offer.

1928 seemed a bit early to go plain black to me for what was essentially a passenger loco. Yeadon says red lining up to 1942.

I'm with you Graeme, but I may end up with one just to encourage them It will depend on the budget and also what they look like; I'm not sure I'd want to commit to one sight unseen although their other models do seem to have a good reputation.

Manchester to Liverpool in 45 minutes, with a water stop; local traffic on the London extension. That to me sounds like a go-anywhere kind of loco.

Leeds - Castleford, Barnsley - Penistone, and the C14 was a slightly bigger version with the same wheelbase. I recently bought the Worsley Works N gauge kit but have the problem of sourcing a chassis or suitable wheels before I can start. When do the GCR suburban coaches start appearing?

I think at present you'll have to see Mr Fozard about RTR GC suburbans, and pay his prices, although oddly enough, before I knew about the C13, I filled in a Hornby wish-list at Barrow Hill on saturday. The only coaches I could think of at the time to put on that list were GC Marylebone stock, i.e the Edwardian suburbans and clerestories. In some ways of course I wasn't thinking very hard, was I? There's loads of other coaching stock that I could have listed!

I've checked thoroughly and sadly the C13 is no use to me at all, even if I were to "blow it up" to a C14 or chop it down to look like an F2. Handy as GC four-coupled passenger tanks may be if you're modelling the Manchester-Liverpool, Sheffield-Nottingham or early Marylebone scenes, they're all about as much use as a concrete parachute if the MS&LR / GCR / LNER lines in Lincolnshire are your main interest. Now if an N5, D7, D9 or D6 were on offer from OO Works, that would be a delight.

C13s were replaced by Std4 tanks, and the authorities were suprised (the drivers were not) that a Std4 couldn't do the job any easier.

Got mine today, what a beautiful model it is too. The only downer I can find is the drivers are missing balance weights. Not an issue, I'll soon get some fitted myself.

The pics of the C13 look good, but LNER unlined black? That would only be suitable for 1942-c1946 models.
I won't be buying one, but it will be interesting to see if they produce any more LNER models.
They seem to lean towards SR models which is not surprising as they are on the Tonbridge-Hastings line, and there many SECR locos that would make good subjects.
Perhaps suppliers think that the LNER is the biggest market (I would have thought GWR) as Golden Arrow at Hastings have produced a D16/3 to go with their B17/5.
A Robinson A5 would be a good subject for a R-T-R model as it was used on London surburban duties, the West Riding the North-East, and Lincolnshire at the end of their life.

The price that's been quoted, I wouldn't imagine many people will be buying them although it would be nice to have one or two.

As yours is a "production model" please could you post some photos?

Will do. At the moment its just plain black as I requested. Very nice Mr Gilbert is lining, numbering and LNERing it for me as soon as I send it off to him. I'll put some more pics of it when its finished unless Mr G. puts some up first!
