Pursuant to my recent post about track material can any one help me with this-I have generally bought direct from SMP in the past, fast and helpful service etc, but cannot get an answer from the phone no. I have for them recently.I am using 1926 402932,does anyone know if this has been changed or they have moved recently?SMP tend not to advertise in the press and are not listed on the EM or Scalefour sites as suppliers, odd given how widely used their products are.The address I have is 1 St. Johns,Warwick,CV34 4NE.If anyone has an update,I'd appreciate it,thanks.

Hi Rob,

Posted this on another forum and got the following details:

SMP Scaleway
149 Landor Road, Whitnash, Leamington Spa, Warwickshire, CV31 2LF Tel/Fax 01926 428530.

No idea if they're correct but you can give them a go.

I'm very grateful for the help, will ring that no first chance I get, probably Wednsday. It looks like a move to me,but I must admit that I was a little worried that SMP may not have been available in future! Thanks for taking the trouble,
Rob.

Hello, a rather late reply, but just joined the forum.
Scaleway track is available from Marcway Models in Sheffield, but they don't appear to push sales of it; which I find a bit strange.

Humblescot,

Thanks for the reply!I think they have only recently taken over the manufacturing, having retailed and built prior to that for many years.Despite having built a no. of points including double slips etc for reasons of time economy I am opting for Peco Code 75 now,a decision I will no doubt regret eventually.......but I have made some progress on the layout side and intend to really concentrate on tracklaying...when the V1's are built  .Is there a support group for compulsive kitbuilders?

Hi Rob,

I had been using Peco Code-75 quite happily until I came to the States, then I found the none of my stock would run on Code-83 track, from Walthers; the back-to-back too close.

Setting back-to-back to 14.8mm, even 15mm, the stock runs through Code-83 and Code-75, as smooth as silk. In fact the whole lot and Jackson couplings just works great. There is a lot to be said for the NMRA standards, not found in the UK.

I have modelled in EM and S4, EM I always thought to be the best, effort for return, but in the States with American friends, I drifted back to 16.5mm track to RP-25 standards; excellent running.

But for new track, I am thinking of SMP or C&L, the latter being currently easier to obtain.

Best regards, Don McC.
