Can anyone Help?
I am in the process of building The Flying Scotsman ('O' Gauge)
And would like to obtain the Correct colour 1922 Doncaster Green
does anyone out there know what the original colour was.

In researching this I have come up with all different shades of Green and it seems to me that it
is a very much debated subject and loads of different opinions on which is the 1922 Doncaster correct shade.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Towards the end of 1923, Flying Scotsman Had been renumbered 4472 and had been given appropriate name plates. Then, at Doncaster she was painted in a high-gloss, varnished beautiful apple green. Which Gresley supposidly despised and he ordered that it should be 'Flatted Down', This order was egnored and Scotsman was packed in a special wrapping and sent of to The Empire Exhibition of 1924.

I was once told by a miniture loco' builder that the correct name for the L.N.E.R. colour was "Tetre Verte".
He had several 7.1/4 gauge in that colour and it looked right to me.

You'll do just fine with Precision "Doncaster" green for 4472.

Incidentally, "Darlington Green" only existed from 1968 onwards when Darlington cocked up the mixing up of "Scotsman's" paint. Amazing how many modellers are fooled by this.....

Well there's an interesting fact - if you can confirm the factual basis of that statement.
