First build

Post by 52D »

Im contemplating an etched locomotive kit in OO gauge. Can the forum help with advice on a suitable first build preferably ex NER, NBR, LNER or North Sunderland in origin.
I am reasonably competent with a soldering iron and feel ready to take the plunge. Does the forum reccomend starting with a simpler wagon kit first or are modern kits easy enough to erect.
Hi interested in the area served by 52D. also researching colliery wagonways from same area.

Lochgorm models do an LNER/LMS beginners van that if you buy more than one are only £6.00. You need to get castings for them but these are availble from various sources - MJT, ABS etc. I have three of them on stock that I haven't built yet but they are listed as being designed for the beginer to etched kits. In fairness at £6.00 you can't go far wrong.

I have no connection to Lochgorm other than as a satisfied customer.
