Hi Guys
Now that I have retired I am about to embark on my first attempt at modeling, i am wanting to model Leeds city Station and various marsheling yards,with northbound and southbound mainlines cica 1950 LNER, as my knowledge of that era is limited,what I want to know is would it be feasable to also include LMS livery as well, what was the situation at the time,
did each company stick to specific routes.

By 1950 nearly all engins and rolling stock would have been in BR livery but the odd shunter or two might be still in LMS with a new number on them as they would have only got repainted when gone for an overhaul.

by Leeds City Station, would you mean Leeds New Station, as opposed to Leeds Central?

If New Station, then this was on the London North West/North Eastern Joint Line, and hence the potential LMS/LNER mix.

By 1950, all locomotives would have displayed the Early BR livery, but would have largely incorporated their pre-nationalisation origins. Hence, LNER locomotives would have occupied Neville Hill (Shed 50B in 1950), and LMS would have occupied Holbeck Shed.

A basic historical map of lines, stations, and marshalling yards is available in "North Eastern Railway - Historical Maps", R.A.Cook and K.Hoole (Railway and Canal Historical Society (1991)), ISBN: 0 901461 13 X.

Images of locomotives at both Holbeck (Jubilee, Mogul, 8F & Black 5) and Neville Hill (K4, A1 & B16) are available in "Steam on Shed", John Stretton (Bounty Books (1984)), ISBN: 0 7537 0999 6.

"BR Steam Motive Power Depots - NER", Paul Bolger (Ian Allan (1984)), ISBN: 0 7110 1362 4 lists LNER locomotives at Neville Hill in 1950, that include A3s, B1s, B16s, D49s, Q6s, J39s, J21s, G5s, J77s, J72s & N13s on the books.

Thanks for that,I suppose purchasing livery with British Railway crest would solve the matter, but I still prefere LNER/LMS
logos, and circa 1950 would become circa 1948. I look foreward to digging those books out you mentioned greedy.
