n gauge model locos

I am hoping to build a layout depicting a part of the ECML after grouping & before nationalisation and have acquired several Union Mills locos. Where can I find lists of running numbers & shed allocations for this period? To purchase Yeadons for all the different classes seems very expensive for such a limited use.
Any help would be appreciated.

There are volumes of shed allocations for specific time. For example I have the Yeadon-branded one for "the first day" (ie. 1st January 1923). There are also volumes (Ian Allen?) for the 1940s and 1950s. Others can probably give recommendations and specific names.
Locos were constantly moving around, so you'll probably want a couple.

I have allocations for Alnmouth, Berwick, Duns, Reedsmouth, Rothbury and Tweedmouth for this period.

I have LNER first and last days, and Eastern reigion 1948 - 1968
Edit: that's 1948 to 1968 but only the years 48, 52, 55, 59, 63 & 66
I do have yeadons 1 & 2 the A1/A10/A3 & A4 W1 so I can give you a year for any of these!

Thanks for your replies.
I have several Union Mills locos which are numbered:-
Q2-3359,Q2-3454,J39-4857,J11-5314,B12/3-1565.
Are these numbers correct for the 1930's and would the locos work south of Retford on the ECML?

You have a mix of numbers correct period would be 1946. There was a renumbering of LNER locos around that time.

Any idea what suitable numbers for these classes would be for the 1930's in specified location?

Hi please check my posting 1923/46/48 LNER/BR Renumbering schemes use search facility.
The Numbering of ex NER locos is all over the place due to a couple of factors. NER replaced scrapped loco numbers with new builds so classes are all over the list once gaps were filled the NER used higher numbers.
I will look at my notes tomorrow and offer you some candidates.

Is anyone able to advise suitable loco numbers for the period around 1936-1939 for models of J39, J11, N7 and Q2 locos which would be found on the E.C.M.L south of Retford?

In 1923 there were only 14 Q2s still operating and none of them were allocated
BR numbers so I dont know if the were still around in 1936 Colwick had 402/410/416/417/421/450 &451.Ardsley had 405/406/407.Peterboro had 452/454 and Doncaster 453/455.I guess the Peterboro loco numbers are your best bet
Retford had several J11s in 1923 and 1950 but 2 of them were allocated to Retford in 1923 and 1950 so it is very possible they remained at the one shed over the 27 years. The two locos are 1117(64393) and 287(64402).This class of loco was also based at Langwidth ,Lincoln, Neasden and Mexbro all of which could have worked on the Southern end of the ECML
There were only 12 N7s available to traffic in 1923 and all were at Stratford. In 1950 vrtually the whole class of 134 locos was based at Stratford. There were a few however that were allocated to Peterboro - 2649(69689),2650(69690),2652(69692),2654(69694)and 2698(69698)and Hatfieid(34C) - 7991(69613),7993(69615),7998(69620),430(69634),834(69639),837(69640) etc.
With regards to the J39s the were all built after 1923 so by 1950 they were all over the Eastern and North Eastern areas. However Retford had some on the books namely 2969(64830),2994(64898),1828(64908) plus a few others.Doncaster had a few which could have worked down to Peterbro
Sorry I cant give you data for 1936 t0 1939 but maybe the above will be some help

Thanks for the numbers 50C which should prove to be very helpful.
I now think that all the Q2's were scrapped by 1935/6 so will have to use "modellers licence to run them on my layout with say the V2's and later A4's!
