I was building some fish vans and it occurred to me that, for a bit of variety, it should be possible to cut down the standard kit to represent the 10' wheelbase verson. The unpainted van in the photo is the 10' wheelbase.
Cuts in the side were, from the observer's viewpoint. to the immediate left of the door and to the immediate right hand end of the door hanger. I managed to lift the strapping from the planks to be discarded but left them attached to the bit retained for use before making the cut. The protruding bits of strapping were then glued back down over the join.
I originally intended to use an old 10' wheelbase chassis only to remember, after making it up, that the fish vans should have a wooden wheelbase, so ended up cutting out the centre of the original solebars. Suggestions for the surplus chassis welcome.

Yes, I like that. I shall have a go at one or two myself, now I've seen that.
There was a thread on Parkside conversions - perhaps we should link this thread to it.

Just as an aside.
The LNERCA at Pickering have acquired the last fish van. They have it in their restoration programme. Photo in latest NYMR mag Moorsline.
