The answers, which appear (amongst other places) in the section of this website dealing with LNER loco classes, are very easy to find via a simple web search using something such as Google.

The answer to your question would depend on whether the numbering was pre or post Thompson's renumbering of the locomotives. The series 2000 onwards would originally have applied to ex NER locomotives. Cock of the North took its number from a withdrawn B13 - NER Class S - where the first 10 engines took the numbers 2001 to 2010. These ten were all withdrawn by the end of 1931. I can't find a ex NER locomotive with the number 2000, maybe someone else can, failing that I don't think there was one. Post Thompson I believe it was the cosmetically revamped ex GNR D3.

North Eastern Railway No. 2000 was a Class P1/J25 built in June 1899 and first withdrawn in May 1939. It was reinstated in November 1939 and loaned to the GWR until March 1943 then renumbered 2050 in October 1944.

The Thompson renumbering lead to ex GNR 3400, a D3 to be renumbered 2000, which is what it used when given an
LNER standard type cab and used as the Directors's saloon loco.
