CVR1865 has mentioned this elsewhere but if people are keen for more (or any) new LNER R-T-R models they might want to consider going in this poll.

My top two choices were an O4 and J15 but J69 and A2 also featured along with some GWR and Industrial stuff. I belive the LNER got the highest amount of votes last year of the big 4 but it was spread amongst so many classes particularly the 0-6-0s that once again we missed out in the new releases.

More in hope than expectation, I voted for the Peppercorn K1, ex-NER J27, and the B16; Thompson non-corridor suburban stock; and some decent LNER steel-bodied 21T hopper wagons (which I'd buy in large numbers). I was tempted to vote for the Q6 and J21 too, but decided these were probably non-starters commercially.

What'll we get? Another Rev. Awdry character, a "Subway Sidney" (or whatever it's called) trackmat, and an NBL Warship.

The Poll has had 2,500 entries made so far, and hopefully all LNER enthusiasts will contribute!

My own preferences are of a North Eastern leaning, although I have added the ROD/04, J11, J15, J17 & J36.

Previous comments are that NER locomotives were shy and hard working, and didn't get out much, so would like to flag up that J26/J27s operated between Cambridge & Edniburgh; Q6s from The Tyne to Peterborough & Manchester; and B16s from Tyne Dock down to Peterborough & London on the ECML!

Add to this the preserved examples of J27 & Q6, the latter of which is now back in steam, and I think that we have a strong case for R-T-R mineral/goods locomotives to haul the North Eastern P.O. wagons from Bachmann & Dapol, past the Hornby & Bachmann NER & LNER buildings.

Add a G5, J21 for good measure

Some new LNER locos (esp. an 04) would be cool, but I voted for some rolling stock.

i) An update of the old Triang Clerestory to something prototypical and LNER-constituent would be nice (they didnt usually stick to their original company's stamping ground post grouping, so they would be versatile models)

ii) some accurate 'blue riband' standard pre-1923 P/O wagons.

Dunno why more wagons arent released= they must cost less to tool up than a loco, and a company can sell them in a huge number of liveries, real or ficticious for the kids. The big problem I see is Bachmann wouldnt do a pre-1923 wagon as not many clients would be bothered about the small differences between 1887, 1907 and the existing 1923 diagrams! But if Hornby or Dapol were to replace their ancient P/O wagons, why not do an earlier version??

Have compiled a list of 80 P.O. wagons so far, and these will be passed on to Bachmann, Dapol & Hornby.

Bill, great work on starting this thread. I had a vite for the ROD and the J15 amongst someother GER based stuff.

The mag said on Friday that there was an LNER loco in clear lead, I'm betting the 04 but hoping its the J15. So if we all can sneak it into the poll at some point in our top 10 then heres hoping.

Still, my wife kindly voted for the B16, Peppercorn K1, J27, Q6, and J21 last night. What a wonderful woman. She'll be pleased, when I tell her.

You remember I grumbled Eeyorishly a few postings ago that we'd end up with an NBL Warship? Still, at least it has the letters "NB" in its title, so I suppose we shouldn't feel too ignored.

In case GWR fans feel left out, there's also speculation that the NRM's next model after the prototype Deltic will be "City of Truro". And I'm sure I heard someone in Tescos this morning saying that they'd heard that the supermarket giant was considering sponsoring a "Saint" class for the new year, and a series of Pot Noodle snacks based on George Jackson Churchward's cook's favourite recipes.

As per usual, if you don't model in OO gauge your A flat chime whistle can go with the wind. Bachmannn and Dapol don't want to know unless big bucks come rollling in. For one example, if Dapol were to produce a B17, in say, well known football clubs nowadays I'm sure they would shift plenty even if not from railway enthusiasts. I'm sure companies such as theirs could move quite a few of the Js, J25,26,27 & 39. I would have thought that the customer base would have been larger than that for a 14xx.
Time to keep alllegiance with Union Mills and the few companies who produce kits for anything LNER in N gauge.

I've voted for the ROD O4 (again). How many years have people been asking for this now? The rest of my votes were fairly optimistic, like my wish for an E4, but you never know.

Yes, ROD 04, no question.

To my mind, its had Bachmann written all over it for about the last three years now. Just shows how flawed my mind is...

I would also like to see some LNER box vans in RTR, and Thompson coaches.

I just wonder if the O4 is aesthetically pleasing for a model. It is a very good steam engine but i wonder if the proportions are a bit wrong to see it produced. On the grounds of looks selling it maybe that a smaller better proportioned loco gets the nod ahead of what we all want.

Fair point; though I rather like its looks. And odd looks didn't stop Hornby producing the Q1...

I agree about that looks are not everything - its what my mother used to tell me!

I think that the ROD/04, Q6 and/or J26/J27 proved their value in the work that they did, and the duration that they worked, from introduction to their end in BR days. They certainly speak for themselves, given their preserved status, their attraction in the LNER Region, and the effort that people put in to keep them going to this day still.

Keep voting for them, and the depth of both railway and industrial heritage that they represent!
