Can be summed up in one word-magnificent!Great to see it in all its glory, thanks Mick. This is a class of locos I remember dismissing as archaic and ungainly when I got interested in the LNER as a kid-now I think they are the equal of any for style and elegance and going by the articles in Vintage LNER they had performance to match their looks. As usual when I see this,I'm hugely tempted to start on mine but instead have got two Nu-Cast 04's out to while away the time!I'm a slave to the mundane.......
Cheers,
Rob.

Hi all
Thanks for the comments .
She has been hard work (the added parts I mentioned, I have made from scratch) as some of the kit parts supplied where very poor , in particular the reversing gear was a joke, DJH provide some small pieces of brass etch which didnt even fit between the spashers let alone run behind the splashers as per the prototype.
Curves? not sure as still have no layout to try her on, but I wouldnt think anything less than 36" as a minimum radius..
At the moment she ir running like a pig!! DJH recomend the american system. I am still trying to get a decent power connection between loco and tender. If all fails I will revert to normal pick ups via loco wheels . The loco runs fine on its own but is intermitent with the tender., indicating a poor connection between them. I used a Comet connection on my Thompson A2/3 Hycilla I might also try that.

first off- bravo!!! fantastic job!
I have a LNER B5 I want to backdate to GCR 8F class. They have brass splasher edging that I need to ask. Could I ask how you did it? did you cut brass sheet to a curve, or bend brass strip. if the latter how did you convince the metal to bend the 'wrong' way (i.e- along the wide edge, rather than the thin edge)?
many thanks,
Will

Hi
Take piece of .45mm Brass Wire bend to rough shape in fingers. Place on a metal surface then flatten with a small Pin Hammer . If the Brass is the wrong width use thicker or thinner wire to suit. Cut Brass to size job done :
Hope this helps , it is easy with practice
Why DJH didnt etch any I dont know

Re: On my workbench - Raven A2 Pacific
Hi all,
This is not much to do with the builds that Mick and I undertook of the DJH kit but I thought some might be interested in seeing what this goes for on Ebay. Looks to be a very well made example.

While this is an old post - I thought I'd just say how fantastic this locomotive looks! Interesting to see that you've modeller one of the unrebuilt examples with an 8 wheel tender as I was under the impression that only the Gresley boilered ones got those - back to the reference books I think and brush up on my knowledge of the class!

I noticed that another unbuilt DJH kit of this loco went for over £250 on Ebay a few days ago. It made me wonder what was the original RRP for it?
