For a gentle curve, I find that if I wet the surface with saliva, the transfer will be amenable to bending to shape. Now, to find an example.

Hornby 8F which doesnt seem to get much attention on this forum. A very nice model, all I have done is weathering , etched worksplates, Loco lamp and real coal in the tender. Nice and heavy and a good performer pick ups and all drivers and tender wheels.

That looks very effective Mick.

I have that exact model in my collection too. The first loco I travelled behind on the SVR many years ago was the 8F 8233 so I have a soft spot for them.

Another one for Jim. This has been converted from the USA Cowcatcher version.

New Dome, Bufferbeam cutdown and resized filled and new lining and number, vac pipe added . Cylinders changed to correct version....

In the course of replacing the cylinders and also swapping the rear driving wheel crankpin following the speedo drive removal, you will have had to loosen the motor etc to create enough slack to remove the rear wheelset. I have just gone through the same process on another USA Scotsman, (which I am not changing the dome on, and therefore not needing paint matching etc), which will become Brown Jack.

It all went surprisingly well, everything re-assembled, but I am left with a mystery clear plastic washer on my work surface, and no idea from whence it came. I can't see it anywhere on the Hornby (exploded parts) service sheet! Did you encounter one of those on my lovely model of Papyrus Mick? If so, where should it go please?

[I post rather than PM this to assist anyone else planning a dismantling exercise on a A1/3/4 chassis - not the easiest task!]

I'm hoping to be dismantling four to get two runners. The only place I can spot a clear washer is on the front bogie assembly - it's supposed to fit between the spring and the slotted support.

Thanks Manxman! Perhaps mine is a surplus item caught up somewhere on the chassis in the factory - I haven't dismantled the front bogie at all.

The damaged A3 now repaired Grand Parade.

As well as body repairs the following has been added new dome, top of boiler seam filled, Brassmasters add on detail to footplate supports , front steps, reversing lever and ashpan lever and a single chimney. Paired with a backdated to 1928 Corridor tender done earlier.
