Images now restored to, and including, page 99. So as to avoid pointless repetition of updates here, I'll simply revise the page numbers back in the very first post in this thread on future occasions.

G'Day Gents

I must echo Dave's comment, I would think it's a boring and thankless task, so 'Thank You' :D :D

It's not too bad, so long as it is going well....

I've found a problem here:
https://lner.info/forums/viewtopic.php? ... 515#p55846

I cannot identify the source files for the K1 and K3/1 images that appeared previously. If anybody happened to copy that entry for any reason they may wish to be kind enough to show me what the images were. Otherwise they will remain a mystery as I am now moving on.....

Just on that Graeme - just below the post you've linked I note your original O1 conversion is pictured. Did this model ever re-emerge?

Obviously everyone and their mother has the Hornby O1 (including myself) but your conversion was such a brilliant use of the components we had at the time - it would be a shame for it to have disappeared entirely.

I've never found out anything about the fate of that O1 conversion.

I haven't a clue which image of the J11 I posted on the same page either, but the world will manage to carry on.....

The image gap in this thread is now largely confined to pages 186 to 214, as I've found time to deal with over 100 pages in the last ten days or so. I hope the remaining pages can be dealt with in the days between Christmas and the new year.

A happy and peaceful Christmas to all.

Thank you for taking the time and effort to restore these images Graeme. My own modelling has been heavily influenced by your work and it is great to be able to go back and see how you've done things again.

Merry Christmas!

Many thanks from here too, a valuable and very helpful resource to have back!

Isn't it ridiculous though that we have to mess about doing this sort of thing: the internet / digital stuff was supposed to be so perfect / easy / permanent...

Ah well: Merry Christmas all :D :D :D

Realistically, nothing is ever perfect. I've found life is easier if I accept that universal rule.

Hooray! It's not nearly as momentous as the meeting of the Western and Eastern allied forces somewhere near the line of the Elbe in May 1945, but my major image reinstatement exercise has just ended as I "met myself coming back" at page 211. One or two images have refused to reveal to me their original identities or current locations, but almost everything relevant is there, and if anybody who kept copies of the original entries feels kind enough to show me what the missing images are supposed to be, I'll see if I can do something about it. Pages 185 to 211, quite by chance the last ones I tackled, were the trickiest (quite typically) as there was after page 184 no discernible relationship between the codes in the broken Imageshack links and the file names for my original images. I'm glad that the accompanying notes, and the way I had stored my own image files allowed me work out in most cases what should go where, without giving me a nervous breakdown.

I shall now continue the compilation of the thread index as effectively as I can. Should anybody in due course spot something in the thread that isn't listed in the index but seems to deserve an entry then would they please let me know and I'll try to remedy the omission.

Job done, index/subject list at page 1. Time to put feet up, feel smug and drink tea.

I may even get back to doing some model making in the not too far distant future...
