Re: Daves C & W Works
The NER K1 is complete and just needs a bit of filling and then painting, the roof will be fixed last thing. Painting will be done when there is a warmer day and I can spray primer outside.
This wagon has got Bill's sprung w irons, I thought I would try them as he made his point earlier, must say they are very good,
even digging out the axle box's is not that hard with my micro chisel. I filed a bit off the ends of the wasted bearings to reduce the amount of
work on the axle box.
The NBR D67 is coming on again with Bills sprung do da's.

Hi Dave,Dave wrote:Hi john, I will try not to divert him, but can you wait till I get my NER G7 vans from him.
Dan said all outstanding orders come first. I got a parcel of GNR bogie BGs just before Xmas. I think I have another parcel pending, bringing G7s too. But after that hopefully some 4mm West Riding sets.
Cheers,
John

John.
2 NER G7's just dropped on the mat 10 mins ago so you can have Dan to yourself for a bit.
Nice looking kit at first glance.

Snap, 2 NER G7's dropped through my letter box this morning also, have to get the RSU fired up for all the delicate strapping that needs to be attached.
Next batch of NER coaches promised for March after the Kettering show is out of the way.

Managed to finish the NBR D67 cattle wagon (whilst having to do some decorating), it will join the other wagon now waiting for warmer weather and paintinG.
Not a very good kit in my opinion as the mouldings needed a lot of cleaning up, the solebars have bits of the flange missing, I should has sent it back really.

Re: Daves C & W Works
To help me convert back some of my stock to OO scale for the proposed garden layout, I
have made this simple item, simply drop in the EM wheel set and push the wheels inward to the stops,
this keeps the regauged wheels central on the axle.
The o/a width is a standard pin point axle spacing and overcomes the problem of keeping the wheels central when using
a conventional back to back gauge.
I have lots of EM gauge wheels spare and this will be an easy and cheap way of recycling them rather than
selling them and buying new.

Re: Daves C & W Works
I may just have solved my quest for more lining inks to use in my Rotring pens, I have lots of spare nibs since
we went over to CAD at work.
Just ordered some Liquitex acrylic ink to try, so the finishing of the D113's and D10C could be getting closer.

Re: Daves C & W Works
The ink has arrived, and works in the pens, but not had time to try it on the carriages,
but I have sealed the teak finish with Vallejo gloss varnish so I can line onto that.
Now a question, I have a spare A1 body (hornby) with spring buffers, how do you remove the buffers from the housing?, I want to try and reuse
them in another body. I must admit I have not tryed yet and would probably use a special tool (pliers) for the job and just pull
and break them.

Re: Daves C & W Works
I tried the ink over the weekend but it was not a success, it dried to faint.
It worked fine and covered well on some matt paint but not on the gloss varnish,
back to the drawing board. I will try some thinned acrylic paint in the pen in the next few days.
I have plenty of nibs if I ruin one.

Re: Daves C & W Works
Does anybody know of a supplier of NER/early LNER flat topped guards duckets for Toad B's etc. The last lot I got
where years ago in the mid 90's from the original 51L at York show and where white metal. I've had a scan of the current 51L site
and can't see any listed, but I may have missed them.
Thanks.

Re: Daves C & W Works
These duckets are now available from David Geen, I purchased some of them from him last year. The original 51L models now being the range (with some additions) available from David.
The current 51L range available from Wizard Models originating from kits from Dan Pinnock (D&S Models) again with some additions. I believe Scottie Dog had the range after D&S before it was taken over by Peter Heald of Wizard before Wizard then passed to Andrew Hartshorne, unless someone knows better?

Re: Daves C & W Works
Thanks Wolf, on the case now.
I've managed a few quick jobs
51L NER F9 perishables van just needs the roof to finish it, altough now I have the drawings it might get some more bits, but not had time to study them yet.
Parkside LNER cattle wagon, as late version, it will have the roof fitted after the inside has been painted and of course have it's brake gear and axle box's fitted.
Parkside NER quad, I've made new bolsters wits ns loops and uprights, I did not like the bogies as supplied so it's got a pair of old Ratio bogies
with Alan gibson wheels. The bogies came from an old Triang bogie bolster I altered in the 70's, just needed brass bearings fitted and the detail
above the springs cutting off and some "I" beam ends added. Just needs 2 4 spoke brake wheels to finish it then painted. The load if it happens
is an Evergreen "I" beam, drilled to represent rivet holes. I think the Evergreen beams are much more life like than the plastruct ones.
I've now got several wagons waiting for warm weather and spraying, the plastic ones will just get a coat of acrylic.
