Re: LNER C13 New 4mm model
Good morning all
It looks a lovely model.
It is amazing that so many GCR locos are being produced, O4, D11, J11 and now this C13.
Craftsman produce an A5, which would look good alongside it, and a F1/2 which appears to be a shortened C13, would make a great trio.
I wouldn't dare to cut down such a lovely loco to make a C15, but a C12 with an extended bunker would be getting close to a north of the border atlantic tank.

Nah!
Wrong cab roof. Belpaire firebox. I think boiler probably pitched too low. That's more than enough to be getting on with (another matter, perhaps if it was a plastic-hacking job as in Hornby/Bachmann/Atlantic). Somewhere in the depths I have two of the once-Cotswold C16 kits, milled-brass chassis and all, one of which I put together in what now feel like Old Testament times. I shall some day satisfy myself by re-working the first of these and building the second... The A5 IS an attractive if chunky beast. Pity they didn't penetrate into what passes for civilisation north of the Tweed. (I'm saying nothing about what does or does not pass for civilisation to the south of that Great Divide.)
As a sideline, I find it interesting that, to me as one weaned in the late 1950's on Reid 4-4-0s and Gresley machines, the lines of defunct D11/2s stored in an elevated siding at Longniddry seemed remarkably alien and even ugly in their lineaments... (I now recognise them to be, on the contrary, particularly elegant machines.)

Re: LNER C13 New 4mm model
The C13 was a development of the F1/F2 (available as a kit, I bought a built up one off ebay cheaply that turned out to be very professionally built and painted with superb lining and an excelent runner as well, I'll post piccies later). These tanks would have been excelent locos for preserved railways, powerfull compact and damn good looking!earlswood nob wrote:.

Its good to know where you stand. Saves making a fool of yourself later......

I believe I have one of these on order, but things seem to have gone very quiet.
Does anyone have any news?

Looks like you are not the only one still waiting Jim. Perhaps a phone call to rattle their cage is now in order. Is Roderick Bruce the chap to insist upon speaking with?
Note Morgan's comments on the quality......
Your 8 wheel tender bodies are ready at last by the way. Sorry for the delay - even I cannot cast without resin.

Re: LNER C13 New 4mm model
Just spoke to a very friendly lady who advises me that she will be contacting me in around 3 weeks, all being well, to relieve me of some money for my C13!

Delete the words after your second "me" and it sounds even more promising .

Re: LNER C13 New 4mm model
I am pleased to say that my C13 arrived today.
For those still waiting here are a few shots of the packaging and the loco. It was nicely boxed, well protected, and I can see no quality issues at all. Pretty impressed!
more to follow!

I hope that this model proves a success for Roderick Bruce & Co, and that we see more new LNER classes from them.

Re: LNER C13 New 4mm model
Can you see anything to suggest that features of the main casting have been improved since Morgan Gilbert expressed concerns about the model he was tasked with completing?

Re: LNER C13 New 4mm model
I will look back and find Morgan's posts, and then check. They do not appear earlier in this thread I believe.Atlantic 3279 wrote:Can you see anything to suggest that features of the main casting have been improved since Morgan Gilbert expressed concerns about the model he was tasked with completing?
Edit: I have just delved far back into Morgan's posts and may need to visit you professionally as I cannot find the posts.
